I have personally inspected this copy, and it checks every single box for a true first run:

Copyright Page: Right there in plain English, it says "First Edition" with no later printings mentioned.

The Magic Gutter Code: If you look closely at the inner margin of page 374, you’ll find the tiny "Y38" code printed near the spine. This proves it came from the very first print run in late 1983.

Dust Jacket Price: The front flap is totally unclipped and still shows the original $15.95 price.

Jacket Date Code: Down in the corner of the front flap, you'll spot the correct "1183" date code.

The 1982 Back Cover Misprint: This is the best part! The last paragraph on the back of the dust jacket accidentally lists the release date of Tabitha King's book Caretakers as 1982. The publisher caught this mistake and changed it to 1983 very quickly, so having the "1982" typo means you get the earliest, rarest version of the jacket!

Dust Jacket: Beautiful shape. The colors are bright and popping, with absolutely zero sun-fading or yellowing on the spine. The edges are super crisp with no ugly tears, chips, or creases. It’s currently safely tucked away in a brand-new, clear archival mylar sleeve to keep it safe forever.

Binding: Bound in the original full black cloth with bright, shiny gold lettering on the spine. The spine is perfectly straight, tight, and feels unread.

Cover & Corners: Excellent. The boards lie perfectly flat, and all four corners are sharp as a tack with no dents or bumping.

Inside Pages: Clean, crisp, and bright white. No one has written their name inside, there are no library stamps, no folded pages, and absolutely no tears. See photos for condition.
